the TSR Brands hatch has a bore of 82.5 and a stroke of 92.8 using a diesel crank, same as a 3A bubble block audi engine basically. CR is unchanged from std aparantly according to Rob at TSR.
What engine did the 1700s use?
The 1700s are a curious engine never seen in the UK, but were the critical source of '1800' cranks used by the tuners to increase 1600cc GTI engine sizes. The 1700 has been seen in USA Rabbits, but originate from the VW Iltis, a 4WD military-type vehicle, which has the regular VW 4-cyl engine married to an early incarnation of the Quattro drivetrain. Sometimes they are cast with '1.7' in the crankcase.
