i have just collected my "new" 2015 r. Drove it 650 miles home yesterday from london to north of Inverness. The cruise control is driving me mad! It slows down earlier than I would want irrespective of settings. It often slows down apparently randomly.

Not sure what the difference is between 2015 ACC and 7.5 version, however I find it really good.

As Spinstorm says the Adaptive is a safety feature. It primarily tries to maintain a safe distance, but unfortunately most other drivers don’t, which is why it is sometimes frustrating and feels like you’re going backwards, as these airheads keep pulling out in front of you. There is nothing wrong with the system, just other drivers.

Works great on some motorways, but no so on M25 when busy as Beemers will always sneak into the gap before it accelerates. As others have said use when you need it and turn off or override when not, or play with distance options, makes sense after a while.

I adjusted my default following distance to 1 notch closer than the default.

I find it great. It is better than the one on the Volvo XC60 I traded in for my Golf R. That used to keep slowing after a car ahead of me had left the carriageway and was on the slip road. I do use it in town and particularly on 40 and 50 limits where it is very good to prevent you getting caught for speeding.
