the towell and rubbing the shaft will get it hot enough to mildly burn your fingertips if you touch it. have done it while playing golf, when u hit a rock under the turf. best way to do it for sure

Thanks for the responses - I just had a go at the towel method and it worked a treat. That should be a pinned topic!! I had searched for shaft and bend/bent but you just get a tonne of posts about lie angles. I love GolfWRX!

99andaflake

cool - it was bent at the second step up from the hosel - About a third of the way up the shaft. I bought the set for a pittance so to start re-shafting would have ruined some of the 'bargain-ness' of the set!! Plus I have no idea if my proshop would have had one of the older sensicore shafts in stock. Thanks again!

If there's just a curvature in the shaft, bend it using the towel method. If the shaft has a kink or crease, reshaft it. You don't want the shaft to let loose and hurt anyone else.

Played today early in the morning. I was in a lie behind a tree. Had a clear opening for a perfect 8 iron shot into the green. I swung and my club clipped the tree and bent the steel shaft of the club.

sherwoodnatl

you might want to get it replaced anway since you'll be compensating on every shot.

jamo

Because it has been bent once, it will happen again, slowly over time. Thus: One single steel shaft isn't going to cost you much. I would just replace it. You've got the CB1's, which are new so I'd assume either True Temper, Project X, or KBS shafts, all of which are easily replaceable.

Do they use a vise clamp for loft?

They do indeed use a specialized vise clamp and a mallet for lie /a custom bending bar type thing for loft, however, they also have a very high tech/definition camera to pick up the reuslting lie and loft measurements, and while I understand their "shock the metal" concept - as opposed to bending it into place, such also has a higher propensity to damage or break a club head at the hosel, particularly if cast and/or older. Learned this the hard way when they broke some of my S59s, that I subsequently had no issues bending (the non-broken ones) myself in my loft and lie machine.
