An example lesson using Trackman

Lots of players and coaches these days are frightened of technology. I can definitely understand the fear – information overload can be a daunting thing which can hurt players for sure (paralysis by analysis). However, I think too many people associate technology with complexity.

The Lesson

A pupil of mine came to me recently complaining of the ball finishing right and flying low. He also was strapped up on his forearms, and said he has recently developed golfers elbow and Tennis elbow.

What we did

The nice part about all of this is, although we made a lot of positive changes, I only asked him one thing.

Why Tech?

One of the issues this pupil had was an awareness one. He had been listening to his 15 handicap friends for a month, and they had been telling him that he was swinging too much in to out, and that’s why he was hitting it right.

Take Home Notes

Tech doesn’t have to be scary. I showed this player only numbers he understood (path, distance, shot height) and gave him one simple thought.
