To use 2 controllers first person has to sign into console pick your player then the 2nd person using second controller turns the controller on signs into there name then goes to game picks there person to play with 1st player selects their player, then 2nd player pushes the PS button on their remote, click x and selects their player...
You need to have two Xbox profiles signed in and linked to a controller for a split-screen game to recognize two players. You can also add a guest from the Sign in tab when pressing the Xbox button and then scrolling to the far left when the guide pulls up.
