I know this isn't your usual flipping story, but I felt there was a lesson in it that I have learned and wanted to share.

How do you respond to people who ask you questions that only undermine you?

I buy a lot of scrap gold and silver and always bring a scale with me. It's a scale, they are like $10 on eBay. It's not some new and amazing device that costs $10,000. They have been around for hundreds of years and over 20 years in digital form.

I've read other threads on here that recommend USPS for shafts and other lighter items an FedEx for larger things.

Just recently shipped one for $16 to west coast from midwest via Fed Ex. The key was getting it below a certain length (i can't remember, but I think it was 36"). At 37", $16 went up to $40, so had to cut down the bag box to get it to 36", but not sure how picky USPS is on actual dimensions.

Fedex has been the best for me. I went to UPS and got quoted like $47, I told them no, took the same box to Fedex and it was $26. I do all of my clubs through USPS because it is cheap and quick but for bags I will always use Fedex.

mark98ca

Fedex will be much cheaper, but the 14" side will lead to a high cost. Is this a staff bag? 14" is pretty big - is there lots of space in that box?

mark98ca

OR, stop by your local golf store, they have plenty of boxes that they will (should) give you. 39x12x12 is what I used. I have picked up boxes for irons, putters and bags for free, as they are just chucking them into the recycle bin out back.

Definitely need to price all carriers - selling and shipping bags suck. Fortunately for me, I donate my bags/clubs to my course which forwards them to high schoolers. I can also use them (local course) for shipping items which is a huge savings because of business account.

I've considered buying some vintage bags offered on eBay. The shipping prices have been all over the place... low maybe $25 to arrive in three weeks, another about $100 to ship an $80 used bag.

What kind of bag? Diameter of bag. Sometimes just a few inches in one measurement makes a big difference with UPS.

Pretty sure you can get this done for under $45. I did a quick check and that's what it came up with.

Any ideas on how much it costs to ship a golf bag? The Mrs says I need to get rid of some stuff, so I decided to list a few golf bags for local sale pickup. I haven't had much interest, but a couple guys out of state said they'd be interested if I'd be willing to ship them.

I shipped a smaller stand bag in the box it came in and it was twice that.

Golfnutt87

Easiest is go to your local PGATSS or Edwin Watts, they can ship using their commercial account usually for under $15. I took a 5 lb bag to both USPS and UPS and was quoted $90. Took it to Uinta golf and paid $7.50!!
