If you are right-handed and have a dominant right-eye, then you will naturally aim your putter face to the right of the target. If you have a dominant left-eye, you will naturally aim your putter face to the left of the target. Conversely, the opposite is true for left-handed golfers.

I've read a few threads talking about how certain types of putters may be better than others depending on your eye dominance. I was wondering what the current thought is on this.
BrianMcG
I am left eye dominant. My aim was measured with a laser and all my putters with lots of offset, I aimed about a foot to the right on a 10 foot putt.
Lord Helmet
Im left eye dominant. Play lefty, putt righty. A center shaft putter has made me a better putter.
FairwaysToHeaven
i've found that less offset helps as well as having the ball lined up under the dominant eye so more forward in stance for left eye dominant.
Mych
Interesting thread. I've never thought about my eye dominance, but center shafted putters (or anything half shaft offset or less) have always suited me best. I struggle with plumbers necks and full shaft offsets. I also naturally position the ball forward in my stance.
DHarry
I'm left eye dominant and I position the ball in the center, right between my eyes but I'm over the ball. Would it in my best putting interest to move my eye position left/inside the ball? This is a topic I know very little about.

I myself am left eye dominant, right handed and prefer a face balanced setup like the Odyssey O-Works 3T that i'm gaming right now or my Byron HB-15 (DH89) with a double bend and face balanced.

I am left eye dominant and have a medium arc to my stroke. I seem to line up better with a center shafted putter.

I too am strongly left-eye dominant (to the point of being stereoblind; my brain hardly even uses my right eye). I went through a Quintic fitting recently and quickly zeroed in on a Stroke Lab V-Line CS putter. The roll and stroke metrics were much better with that putter than any other I tried.

I'm left eye dominant yet right handed and currently have a SC RedX2 that I extended to a 35, from 34. The centre shaft helped me line up putts significantly, but I struggled with lag putting.

I'm also right handed with a dominant left eye. After getting over the putt I shut my right eye. I'm almost always aimed at the right side of the cup until I shut my eye and see the true line.

I have a very bad alighnment problem. For a 10ft putt my putter is aimed at least 4 inches to the left of the hole. I can even use a 2 ball putter and align my putter to a spot on the green directly inline with the hole and still be off. ( I argue with everybody that I'm square to the target I'm not.
ezra76
Same here, righty with dominant left eye. First off, make sure your putter fits you. I've been fitted for a 34" inch putter. A simple way to do this by yourself and get close would be to get something like a shaft, stick or tape measue.

As to the line on the ball - I tried that for a while, and I think it does work. I say that because I can't take my own advice and use it. When I set up with the line I always think its off. And most of the time when I move off the line from the ball I miss... and it looks like the original ball line was the right one.
KMeloney
Or you could get rid of lines all together and try a putter with a sight dot. Just taking the putter back & through will produce a blurry line with the dot and allow you to focus on your stroke and good contact rather than grinding over your line.
Boba
I think the line on the ball, aligned to the target line, takes the grind out of the putt (since some of us with eye issues don't see the line properly once over the ball). From there, I just try to work on the speed.
KMeloney
Except a putts line is dependent on it's speed (which has everything to do with the stroke), get the speed correct and your line somewhat correct and you're bound to make a few.

Why does my head rotate rightward?
As you rotated to the top, your head would also want to rotate rightward in order to keep the ball in focus. If you did not allow this to happen, you would greatly restrict your backswing, or you might even lift your head up and lose your spine angle instead.
