Joe brings more than 40 years of experience in the golf industry, including positions as PGA professional at The Mount Snow Country Club in Dover, VT and The Metacomet Country Club in East Providence, RI. Joe was also the owner of Settlers Crossings Golf Course in Lunenburg, MA.

The Waumbek Golf Club was the 89th course in the country to be listed by the United States Golf Association (USGA). While you’re here, relax at our clubhouse with lunch on our spacious deck, which overlooks the stunning Presidential Range, the Cog Railway and extending all the way to the Franconia Notch on a clear day!

History. The Waumbek Golf Course established in 1895, is New Hampshire’s oldest and most scenic 18-hole golf course. We are celebrating our 123rd year of relaxing and enjoyable golf.

The very pointy mountain (like a triangle) is Cherry Mountain. On 90% of your putts, the ball is like a magnet to that mountain. We can’t explain it, but when you are putting, throw an eye for Cherry Mountain .
Who was the first golfer to play at Waumbek?
The course became an immediate success, attracting America’s first homegrown golf professional, Arthur H. Fenn. In 1898, Mr. Fenn extended the course to 18 holes, making the Waumbek one of the longest, and most challenging, golf courses in the country.
Who was the first Scottish golfer to open the Grand Hotel?
The allure of the Grand Hotel aroused the interest of Willie Norton, one of the first Scottish grown golf professionals to find his way to America. Mr. Norton designed and opened the first 9 holes in 1895. The course became an immediate success, attracting America’s first homegrown golf professional, Arthur H. Fenn.
Is the bandstand at Grand Waumbek still there?
As the years went on, the hotel burned, was rebuilt and later torn down. The bandstand is still visible down the road from the Pro Shop.
