Well for me I think it is in my head--- Of course I learned the game with almost no offset blades---- But this is why I say it is in my head--- A offset metal wood or irons up to like a 7 iron I hook the snot out of them---- Short irons from the 8 down to SW I hit the Senior Hosel shots with--- And yeah I will be the first one to tell you my swing is in no way close to what the gurus call proper or textbook.

I've read Wishon's post (and other articles about offset) and I simply do not understand how it allows any additional time for the face to reach the ball. If you are setting up with the ball "against" the face, the arc length the face travels is the same regardless of whether or not there is no offset, or a ton of offset.

Most people, especially high cap and beginners are not capable of keeping their hands ahead of the club head at impact. Where its more noticeable is irons 6i-2i where offset, least in my 620MB's and 620CB's is minimal. However, offset varies per club design as can be seen in Titleist 718 and older series.

Reading about offset isn't going to create the proper picture. Go to your LGS and pick a SGI, most have lots of offset and a 620MB blade of Player 620CB. Put them side-by-side. You'll see the angle of the shaft and where your hands are positioned are different. The most difficulty with minimal offset is with 6i-2iron.
