The 2 that compare for me are the Bridgestone E6, and the Srixon Q-star. Sometimes, I'll find a new ball and play it for a few holes to compare it to the NXT. Another couple of balls that are different, but nice are the Titleist Tru-Soft, and Callaway Super-soft.

We like the Callaway Iron for the higher handicap player, as we feel the technology is just slightly better than the Titleist range. I've been using NXT's for years and now that they are discontinued I'm confused to what ball is the closest comparison. Reading reviews about the Tour Soft, seems to me that it's a completely different golf ball than the NXT. Has anyone decided on what golf ball they would replace the NXT with?

Try Q Star Tour. Will be softer than the NXT Tour but urethane and good greenside spin.

I thought the irony was funny, FWIW. I seldom look at the ball forum either.

Not sure if they are the closest comparison to NXT Tour, but Chrome Soft and Srixon Z Star are in the bag right now. Z Star may actually be a little better around the green, but both get the job done at a decent price. Probably would buy whichever is on sale.

I was one of the reviewers chosen for the TourSoft reviews in the "Pre-Release" forum. I found them very similar to the NXT, but softer. Lousy deal for your money, if you ask me, but they're the closest equivalent in the Titleist lineup to the NXT, if you're keen to stay in the family.

Looks
Both balls come in white as standard, with the Velocity having 350 round dimples and the Supersoft 332 of the standard Callaway hexagonal dimples.
Feel
As you might expect, the Callaway Supersoft lived up to its name on and around the green with feel that will not endanger anyone with delicate ears.
Flight
With both the driver and the 7-iron the Velocity was flying higher than the Supersoft, which will be due to the aerodynamics on the NaZ+ ionomer cover generating more spin on full shots. A higher flight with more spin will be good for approach shots into greens.
Distance
In testing at using Trackman at SGGT studios, both balls were pretty consistent with the 7-iron, but the Velocity had the edge with the driver by a few yards.
Control
The lower spin and softer feel of the Supersoft did not lend itself as much to control around the greens. The firmer feel and better cover gave the Velocity the edge with chips and also with the putter as the better audible feedback will probably suit most players.
Which Ball Should You Choose?
Whilst both these balls are two piece balls with a wide range of colour options in the same price bracket, they are aimed at different players.
What is a low spin golf ball?
Low-spin, distance golf balls are designed to reduce the sidespin that exaggerates slices and hooks, and they can help produce longer, straighter drives. Because you’re still learning control around the green, a low-spin ball will serve you just fine.
How do dimples help golf balls fly?
Dimples help the golf ball fly. They create a thin layer of air that clings to the surface and travels back to increase lift and decrease aerodynamic drag. Varying shapes, sizes and patterns affect distance, stability and spin rate.
How to choose the best golf ball?
To choose the best golf ball, think about the areas of your game where a slight improvement could lead to lower scores. Skilled golfers may want to focus on finesse shots around the green. Better pitches and chips could be the key to consistently breaking 80.
What does low compression mean on golf clubs?
Feel is often synonymous with low compression. Low compression allows for more deformation of the ball at impact for players with a lower swing speed, reducing spin and translating to straighter, longer flight on low-lofted clubs. The prolonged contact on short irons and wedges results in a softer feel.
