How many frames does a golf swing take?
Most cameras record at 30fps, which is fine for home videos, but the golf swing happens very quickly — the downswing takes about 0.3 seconds, so that’s only 9 frames — so a higher frame rate will give you more frames and thus a better chance of capturing a frame that shows a specific position — for example 300fps would give you 90 frames of the downswing, so you know that you’ll have a frame that shows the close to position of the hands when the club reaches parallel to the ground.

Im looking for a decent camera that will run no more than $300-400. Any recommendations?
CourtJester
If you're looking for a High Speed camera (200+ FPS) in that price range I would go with any number of high speed Casio cameras. Most of them will shoot 200-240 FPS at 480x320ish The newest in that line is the ZR100 ($300) but you could go for a cheaper older version which could run you as low as $80-100. You aren't going to find a high speed, high def camera in that price range unfortunately..

The Casio EX-FH20 is the camera to get if you can find one with low miles.
snafu34
I have been researching this a bite lately- The Casio Ex-FH100 is the queen for a compact camera with a lot of clout. 210fps to 240fps is about the sweet spot. The FH100 records up to 1000fps but you would need mega flood lamps. The faster the shutter speed the better but again more light is required. 1/4000 of a second is great but 1/2000 will do.
longbal30
Judging by that video, 60 fps is not slow enough. Other than your obvious swing flaws, like posture and the fact you take the club inside and cross the line, its harder to see transition, impact posture, hand action etc. sorry to use your swing as a example, but it was the video you posted.
Timanator
I think Stuart G's video is perfect. Dont need anything slower than that when you can video that frame by frame in Kinovea.
