Just use the cheapest 2" wide masking tape you can find. Unless it is raining, it will last for quite a few hits and leaves a good mark where the ball hits. You do not need to be precise either, just slap a piece of tape on the face. You can also use the masking tape with a lie board if you like.

Sharpie your balls with an X on it pointed towards you club. take a cloth with you and maybe some nailpolish.

sharpie on the ball. The sharpie will transfer to the face and even show the lie angle at which you brought the club into impact. You have to make a thick vertical sharpie line and align that line on your target line (sort of hard). This method is great to show impact location and if you need a lie angle adjustment.
