The blues, the whites, the reds, the blacks.. non of that applies to PGA and LPGA tournaments.. they set the distances from day to day, and one day they may be playing a par 3 at 155 and the next at 200... so which tees did they play??? Well they played "the reds" on holes 1, 5, 7, and 18 but only on Thurs...

Below is the scoring summary from the 2009 U.S. Women's Amateur. It shows the par and hole yardage for the course, along with hole statistics. The Old Warson C.C. course played at 6,422 yds. and par 71. Match play after qualifying 36 holes.

You do realize that not every course uses the same color for tee markers? I've played a course that just had the tee markers numbered 1-5 and another one that doesn't use red, white or blue. The female pros I have played with chose a set a tees based on the total yardage, just like I do.

I thought golf should be played by course distance and not tee box color/age. And there are ways to calculate that, such as drive x 28 or avg. 5i x36 - then find the tee box that has the yardage closest to that number.

It's the sort of thing that clubs will have their own rules for. My men's association let's you move up to the "senior tees" at 60 and the women's tees at 80.

In competition play everyone plays from the same tees. This means that many players can't reach par 4s in 2 or par 3s in 1 or par 5s in 3.

You should play the tees that allow you reach the green in regulation. You can also mix and match.
