Because there is less daylight, it is best to play golf around 2:00 in the spring or fall if you prefer to book a time later in the afternoon. This allows you to play a full 18 before the sunsets and still enjoy your round. The good news is that there are far fewer leagues playing in the spring or fall which means more room and times available!

Going up to Chambers Bay for the US Open in June. I didn't get on the ball and get tickets, so I need to go through StubHub or similar outlet. That means I need to pick which day to go. I only can go up for one day, so my question is which day to go? My theories are:

3jacker

That's really good advice above. Practice round days are really enjoyable. When it's a major, I prefer to actually watch the tournament on TV for the weekend rounds. Definitely Sunday.

KrazyTrain18

If you can only go one day, than I would definitely go to a practice round. That way your almost guaranteed to see your favourite players, have a little smaller crowds & enjoy the day a little more without having to scramble to find a good viewing spot.

duffer888

For a major other than Masters, I'd say practice round or Thursday. I hate crowds. They are usually full of stoopid people with no manners.

bpark1210

I got tix for the US Open w/ a lot of buddies who all agree on Tues and Thurs. Tues seemed liked the best practice round as Monday can be hit or miss for your favorite player. Weds' is almost always the pro-am day if there is one for that particular tourny.

Golfrnut

My vote is for the practice rounds. Went to Pinehurst last year and had a really good time. Easier to get around tee boxes to get better views, players spend more time on the range than just doing warm-ups, and cameras are allowed.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I've pretty much decided to go up for the Tuesday practice round. Might go for Saturday's tournament round.
