Always best to get the fault codes read before spending any (other) money, and that might tell you which sensor - or it's connector - is playing up. It seems TDI intercoolers do collect oil and if it gets fairly blocked the "blow" from the turbo will be reduced to "****" at the inlet manifold - thus collapsing your pipe.

On my golf, long dead of truckbackupitis, the hood release was a plate in the left footwell wall about 4inch forward of the drivers door, it does not look like a handle, just like a cover plate

check the turbo hoses, they are renound for dry cracking, very hard to see at first glance

heater coil light flashing can be caused by one or both brake light bulbs blown, dont ask me why but it cured mine !
