Vw golf mk3 2000 8v engine 2E
but this engine have a distribuitor with 4 vanes and a hall sensor, i thing the called 80s vw distribuitor.
Re: Vw golf mk3 2000 8v engine 2E
Its a hall sensor and you need ignition mode set to basic trigger. Trigger angle is ~60deg but double check with a timing light.

If you see timing drift likely the output is set wrong. What coil setup are you using?

bump.......... just wondering what parts of my 8v loom i can use for my vr6 conversion also.

thanks alot, basically could i wire the vr6 ecu or megasquirt depending what i choose into the 8v car harness and then connect it into the vr6 engine loom or do i need a vr6 complete car harness?

if you use mega or any standalone, you still will need the engine bay loom as you are going to wire the standalone into it or at least part of it.
Applications
VW used quite a number of ignition systems on their water cooled engines. This article covers the Hall effect distributor with four teeth, used on most of the ’80s era inline 8V and 16V motors. Later VWs used a 60-2 crank trigger to drive a distributor, or later, distributorless ignition systems.
Using the MegaSquirt-I (MSnS-E) with the Bosch ignition module
Since there is no need for a VR conditioner or onboard coil driver, this one can use the V2.2, V3.0, or V3.57 board.
Using the MegaSquirt-II PCBv3 with the Bosch 139 ignition module
Build the Hall effect input conditioner circuit, as described in MSExtra’s MS2 Manual. All our preassembled MegaSquirts with the V3.0 board come with this circuit installed.
1995 Dodge Dakota 5.2L (OBD1)
Hello, I have a 1995 Dodge Dakota pickup with the 5.2L Magnum. I've already done quite a few modifications to it (headers, Mopar M1 intake, high stall torque converter, etc) and would like to try a hotter cam and cylinder heads to wake up the motor.
Re: 1995 Dodge Dakota 5.2L (OBD1)
Pick up an old ECU on eBay, you can build a very nice MS system inside of that using a microsquirt module or MS3 module. Microsquirt module: https://www.diyautotune.com/product/microsquirt-module-v2-2/, MS3Pro module: https://www.diyautotune.com/product/ms3-pro-module/.

Re: 1995 Dodge Dakota 5.2L (OBD1)
So theres a problem fitting a microsquirt or MS3 Pro module in a stock Chrysler ECU case...... Potting material. That's why there are no PnPs available for Chrysler products. You can'y buy the connector and you can't salvage old ones like you can with most other ECUs.
Re: 1995 Dodge Dakota 5.2L (OBD1)
Does your vehicle have a totally separate engine loom for the injection, etc? Many do, to speed up factory assembly. If so, get a spare used one, and modify that for a standard MS. Far less work than attempting to make an MS fit the standard loom. And I've done both on other makes. Building an MS into the vehicle ECU case does sound attractive.
Re: 1995 Dodge Dakota 5.2L (OBD1)
My 5.2 Dakota has been MS'd since 2010. MS3X full standalone since 2012. I do not have an auto transmission to deal with, however. As mentioned, the big problem is the stock PCMs are potted, getting a donor connector will be all but impossible.
Re: 1995 Dodge Dakota 5.2L (OBD1)
We have an MS3Pro on a Jeep Grand Cherokee hanging around the shop with the same engine and transmission you're using. However, we just scrapped the wiring harness and made a new harness - the original harness did have a bit of damage to it and wasn't useable as-is, and as others have noted, the connectors aren't easily recovered.
