Good question and I guess it depends on what your use is for it. Ideally you'd want it to have that 10-12yd gap that you have with the rest of your irons. I know guys that play a 4i, but have a 2hy as their next club because they use it on long Par 5's and never had that distance on a Par 4 approach or long Par 3 that would necessitate the 3i.

My 4i is my 210 club. I used to carry a 21º 910H, but it would, essentially, go the same distance as my 4i with less roll out. About a month and a half ago, I swapped it out for a 19º 910H, and it's pretty spot on for what I need in a 220~225 club.
