What Golf Ball is the Longest?

Let us begin the list of balls to look at by saying what golf ball is the longest.

Frequently Asked Questions

This question is asked frequently on forums and in discussions among golf players. There are lots of brands like Titleist, Callaway, Srixon and Taylor Made, etc. So the answer must be that all of them go to a great distance if they are good quality balls.

Conclusion

The only thing left to do now is hit the links. Our list of the best golf balls for the distance should have changed your perspective of the distance that you can get from a golf ball. After all, it is the most important characteristic of a golf ball.

What is the best golf ball for beginners?

Golf balls with an ultra-low compression rating help golfers with a slower swing speed to gain extra yardages. So these are the best ones for beginners and seniors. But the best distance golf ball for those who swing fast is a high-compression ball.

How does the depth of a golf ball affect the flight of the golf ball?

The depth and number of dimples affect the golf ball flight in that they determine the drag and lift potential only to maximize the distance potential. An aerodynamic dimple pattern, no doubt, performs this task quite neatly. It reduces drag and increases lift for boosting distance.

What is a 2 piece golf ball?

If boosting distance is your biggest concern, then choose 2-piece golf balls. This type of construction consists of a large core and an external layer. The fewer the layers, the better it is for golfers who want to produce longer shots. Because more layers add more spin, which means shorter carry distance.

What are the benefits of a 3 piece golf ball?

Key Features. 3-piece golf balls offer a softer feel. Active Acceleration Mantle increases initial velocity to boost distance.

Why is compression better for golf?

It’s simple logic - high compression demands a faster swing speed to make the golf ball go long. And low compression is more suited for golfers with a slower swing speed, so they can achieve the longest distance the most effortlessly.

Why do distance balls have low trajectory?

Because, at such times, wind interferes with the elevated trajectory and leads to a short bouncing stop at the time of landing. Then there are distance balls that generate a low trajectory as well. But these should be designed with aerodynamics for reducing drag and producing a steady descent.

Why use softer golf balls?

Soft Feel. When using softer golf balls, you get access to better workability and feel around the greens. But for distance, harder balls are more likely to live up to your expectations. But that’s only if you can produce a faster swing speed. Otherwise, stick to the softer construction of golf balls.

My answer is – none of them!

At least not any of the ones approved for use in competition by the governing bodies of golf around the world.

Which golf balls go the furthest?

North Butte

The ones with really firm covers like the Velocity will roll farther, both on tee shots and approach shots.

sroest

Depends on the person. By taking the list for what it is, I would say Pinnacle because most of them are rocks.

gvogel

I think that the Velocity might be the longest. Also, ball to ball, I believe the quality control is very good.

brew4eagle

Distances for most balls are similar. Find the ball that works best for you on/around greens and go from there, rather than finding best ball from tee and moving towards green.

pjchangmd

So I have a basic question. If there is a machine that is calibrated to hit at different speeds. It should be easy to say which ball flies the furthers for someone with a swing speed of 80, 90, and 100. ( This is not to say anything about feel... just distance ).

GillPier

Because there are numerous other coefficients that affect distance, not the least of which is launch angle, wind resistance, humidity, etc.

ghoul31

This is from a golf magazine test in 2008, with a robot at 90mph swing speed.

MEfree

Even if the test was accurate at the time, I imagine that a number of those balls have changed in the last 5 years.

pjchangmd

I think there must be a conspiracy by the leading golf ball companies to NOT publish this kind of information. Why isn't there more information since 2008. The test should be easy. They have a robot that hits 80, 90, and 100mph. All things being equal, they normalize for temperature, humidity, grass, trajectory, etc.

GaijinGolfer

Ever if they posted numbers, would you expect them to be fair and accurate? Its just like cars and, "estimated" fuel economy.

pjchangmd

Understood. But it is the baseline number. This should be the distance that perfect golfer would hit every time if he hits it on the screws. Anything less than that, obviously it wouldn't go as far. But now he knows which ball would go the furthest if he swung perfectly. Obviously, there are other parts of the game; he still needs to chip and putt.
