i think its preference and finding what the best results are. I have messed around with my grip a lot this year. I have become more comfortable in my swing the past couple months. I now hold my club like freddy describes. You could pull that club out of my hands no problem.

Whoa, he wasn't kidding then. No hyperbole at all; he is barely holding onto that club! I have been experimenting with a looser grip since my original post with positive results. It seems that by loosening my grip, I can focus on the turning of my body more and letting the hands/arms just come along for the ride.

From my point of view he has to have a loose grip. As many balls as he hits (or at least used to), Tour Velvet grips, and no glove. Just throwing that out there..........

I think its important to make the distinction between LOOSE and LIGHT HOLD...... FIRM and TIGHT GRIP You want to HOLD the club so your WRIST is LOOSE enough to hinge but FIRM enough not to flip The GRIP refers to the intrinsic muscles Of the hand. The GRIP can TIGHTEN up with CF The hand muscles are passive in the big swing
