Golfers can thank Chicago attorney Leonard Ettelson for making the resort a golf destination. He bought the property in the mid-1950s, and when the course became too crowded for members and hotel guests, he hired Landmark’s Ernie Vossler and Joe Walser to develop the property’s golf resources.
