Tour Velvets are pretty soft, so there's a good chance there is some stretching going on when going over the larger diameter shaft. Also often overlooked, how much you stretch the grip when installing makes a big difference too. People that hold the smaller end of the grip when installing can often stretch the grip out down the length of the shaft.
