What does MPF mean in golf shafts?
There is a solution: the Maltby Playability Factor (MPF). MPF is based on dimensional and mass properties of iron heads. In addition, the playability factor utilizes two mathematically based tables to adjust the playability factor. This adjustment can either improve or reduce the playability factor.
What is Vcog in golf?
VCOG = Vertical Center Of Gravity Adjustment. ACTUAL VCOG = Actual Vertical Center Of Gravity.
What does Maltby Playability Factor mean?
The Maltby Playability Factor (MPF) makes it easier to choose the right clubs for you. First and foremost, the playability factor should be recognized as a “guide” to either selecting or understanding why a golf iron plays the way it does.
What is MOI in golf?
An acronym, MOI stands for “moment of inertia.” MOI is measured in grams per centimeter squared and shows how much resistance a clubhead has to twisting. The more resistance it has, the higher the MOI reading and, importantly for golfers, the more forgiving the club will play.
What is Moi correction factor?
MOI correction factor is used to account for those clubs that may have a high MOI, but have a high cg location. You can award an iron design for having a high MOI if the VCG is also high. However, if you have a high MOI and a lower vcg, you can reward the design by adding points to it.
What is Maltby C dimension?
“C” DIMENSION = Distance from the horizontal center of gravity to the axis of the shaft or hosel bore. Measured at the sole line/ground line.

The acronym MOI means 'Moment of Inertia' and in a golfing context this is a measurement of a club's resistance to twisting. When you strike the ball towards the toe of the club, the impact pushes against the toe of the face and that pushes it slightly open.
What driver loft should I use?
Choose a loft to try based on your assessed club-head speed. If it is between 95 and 104 mph, a 10- or 11-degree loft will be appropriate. If it is between 105 and 115 mph, a loft between 7 and 9 degrees should be considered. Golfers with club-head speeds below 85 mph should use a loft angle between 14 and 20 degrees.

What does a lower sweet spot mean in golf?
A lower sweet-spot, makes a head design much easier to hit solid on a consistent basis, for a lot of players. This detail can actually "improve their game", especially if they had been playing with another design with a high sweet-spot. Nothing worse in iron design for a player who has more of a "sweeping" AOA and an impact pattern that tends to be lower on the face, than using one that has a sweet-spot higher than the center of the ball (.840")
Is mpf good for wood?
While i agree mpf is pretty useless for woods its great for irons. This is because as stated MOI doesnt mean as much in irons and gear effect is almost non existant.

Recently I read a post from someone questioning some MPF ratings on a major brands clubs. On one particular brand, all three new models were in the Player Classic category, which generally is not a model we would recommend for players to play because the mass and dimensional characteristics of the designs provide no benefit to the player.
Why Are Maltby Clubs Rated So High?
When it is pointed out that “all Maltby clubs rate high” so “it can’t be valid”, I chuckle a bit. We are a golf club design company and our team has as many combined years of experience as just about anyone in the industry. When we design a model we have a target MPF in mind, as well as a shape, a cosmetic, a material, etc.

Lastly, I have seen comments that state that because we are not one of the major brands that have all the R&D money and resources, that we can not possibly design clubs that perform as well as they do. Really? Do I wish we did have the money and toys and resources the big OEM companies have? Absolutely.
