Interesting format, especially since it's really not a scramble, but more of an optional mulligan. I'd rehit all putts inside 20 feet that don't go in, unless it was a very difficult putt that you got close. Off the tee it depends on the hole. If it's wide open, swing away. If you have a reasonable shot at the green after your first, I'd keep it.

Wow, next time I go out to play a round, I'm telling my buddies I'm playing a "one-man scramble." Everybody on my team hits his shot, we (I) pick the best one (of one), and go from there.

There is a nationwide tourney that i saw earlier this year www.onemanscramble.com I did not get a chance to play in it, but my local club is going to do it themselves this weekend. You get 2 "mulligans" per hole but can only use 1 per shot. Par 3 - 2 tee shots and 2 putts for example. I send an update after it's over.

I have played in a couple of one man scrambles, basically you get 2 shots off the tee chose the best one, then you get 2 shots from the next lie, and on you go. So you always get 2 shots from each location. One thing that I have done when I have played them in the past is if you hit a good drive, don't bother hitting another.
