Just wandering if anyone has any experience with rust on there golf r and trying the warranty process with volkswagon. I tried a claim due to both wings on my 16 plate golf r rusting and got rejected, is this fair or should I raise another claim.

delboy01

What reason did they give for rejection. Accident damage, mud guards trapping moisture or a third party sill extension causing an issue. ?

cocovs6

If the paint is original and there are no body modifications in that area you should have a claim. However I stand corrected on this next point but paintwork warranty is 3 years and corrosion warranty is 7 years. I am talking from previous experience with Audi regarding Audi RS4 I owned.

GoldenGun

That is shocking. Would have thought a corrosion warranty should be there to deal with exactly this type of issue!

cocovs6

Success in getting VW to authorise Paintwork and Corrosion warranty claims seems to be very hit and miss.

GaryP

Hmm - made me think about taking SWMBO's iX35 down to Hyundai to look at the corrosion happening on the top of a rear door, on the inside below/under the door rubber. Only got it on one door - hopefully can be claimed for! Thanks for the prompt - apols its not an R - I do need to touch up some stone chips on my R Bonnet though!!

Noticed both my headlights on my Mk 7.5R are steaming up badly, almost half way up both lenses. Car is only 2 1/2 years old covered only 7500 miles.

Parky-SPP

Does it clear when lights have been on for a short while? I think it is normal assuming it disperses quickly and just condensation.

cocovs6

No it doesn't clear at all. I don't drive car much in poor weather but got the odd bit of steaming up. Went out today headlights clear, came back after hour or so and steamed up badly. Still not cleared yet after 3 or so hours.

Bazandbeanz

Do you jet wash the car or take it somewhere that does? If so it could be that you need to open the rear of your lights for a while to allow the steaming/condensation to clear then close them properly.

It will clear, its normal mine did it last year and it took about 2 days to fully clear up these lights are not completely sealed to allow heat to dissipate.
