Seems to me that if you're looking to try a smaller headed driver, the way to go is to find some used ones. They are predictably much less expensive, and if you find yourself really drawn to the idea, it can't hurt the pocketbook anywhere near as much as a new driver to put a more modern shaft in an older, smaller head and give it a good workout.

Another option is to try out using a 3 wood off the tee. The head is smaller and the loft is higher, so with a slower swing speed, you should do better. And if you want you can always change the shaft length and flex. Much cheaper than buying a new club, unless you and the fitter are certain the new club will do the job as expected.

It's a 4.3% reduction in volume. The difference strictly in terms of volume is mostly in people's heads. If you told people a 440 head was 460 i'm guessing 99.8% wouldn't tell the difference

I don't blame you because the smaller heads look better to me too. My driver doesn't look as big as others in the 450cc range and I don't hit it as consistent as my old 400cc.

Sometimes a smaller head has a deeper face caused by slight change in shape, thus making your miss of center of face more forgiving if up/down vs left/ right on face of driver as 460 is a flatter wider face. My guess why one may work better for you than other. i.e. Compare an r7 460 to r7 425, will see noticeable difference
