by Lesley Rogahn DDS Published 3 years ago Updated 2 years ago

A reasonable estimate is for browsing the entire course at default zoom is somewhere around 10-50MB (0.01-0.05GB). If user is running the free version, downloading ads uses more data - like 1-10MB per round.

GolfLogix is FREE! Quality GPS plus stat tracking, all on your phone. Also, FREE!

Introduction

The old cliche is, “You get what you pay for.” Clearly the people behind GolfLogix have never heard this, or perhaps they just hate cliches, because GolfLogix is free and it’s awesome. Let me tell you why you need to have the #1 golf app on your phone now, if you don’t already.

Ease of Use & Set Up

If you have a smart phone, you know how to download an app, and you know that part is easy. From there, just create an account with GolfLogix so you can store your stats and check them from your computer.

Accuracy & Performance

There are a couple of things I want to touch on, but let’s start with the GPS function. It’s very good. I will stop short of saying that it’s as precise as a laser rangefinder, but it’s more than adequate for 99.9% of all golfers. At no point during any of my rounds with GolfLogix did I feel that I had been misled about a distance.

Value

Have I mentioned yet that GolfLogix is FREE? It’s hard to beat all this for FREE.

Conclusion

As someone who is both a laser lover and has always refused to bring his phone on the course, GolfLogix was a tough sell me, but it won me over. I love the ease of use and the stat tracking is excellent.

1. Heat Map

GolfLogix Green Books are the only guides that overlay standard break indicators wit colorcoded patches to clearly illustrate severity of slope, even for novice green readers. Cool sections indicate flat-ish areas on the green — great places to land an approach. Orange and red? Avoid at all costs!

2. Clean View

Here you’ll find the standard slope and direction often printed in a professionally drafted green book, but in a clutter-free view for when you’re fine-tuning your line from any point on the green. Obviously, arrows indicate break direction. If you had the app in hand, it’d give you the perfect line.

3. Hole Layout

In addition to ultraprecise green data (laser-scanned to 3mm accuracy), Green Books provide a tee-to-green overhead for every hole on the course, with landing arcs spaced at 50 yards to help plan the perfect tee shot and approach.
