I loved working at golf galaxy because the employees along with my employer were so welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed helping all customers with their questions with certain golf equipment, managing the security of the store, and processing customer transactions. Each day at work was not relaxed, but not overly quick paced.

Manager brings you into back room and asks if you have golf experience, difference between clubs, tees, lineups, swings etc. if you have had cashier experience before. If you know how to grip clubs thats a plus.

I fit people for golf equipment at my store. Hourly pay is a bit above minimum wage and there is opportunity to make commission. Management is great and is willing to work with my schedule. The job itself is a little boring now that I've been with the company for over 2 years.
Cons
Commission is only received on brand new, current generation equipment. The regional manager, when I see them, has an abrasive personality.
Hitting golf balls at work
It was a job. Clothing sales for personal wear were an advantage. Getting to hit balls and putt while at work was enjoyable. I love giving golf lessons.
Fun job for a college student
Had blast working here when I was fresh out of high school. If you love golf you can't ask for a better job. Get to be around the newest equipment and a decent employee discount. Pay is not great, but a fun part time job.
Pleasant atmosphere
Stable environment, easily accessible from road, caring cooperative Managers. Always new products and promotions. Up to date p.o.s. No late hours. Lots of available work.
Friendly and helpful staff from management down to cashier
Good environment to work in. Managers are knowledgeable and very helpful if you run into any issues or problems. Advancement opportunities are available in short amounts of time.

Person who does minimal work has a job because they’re dating a fellow employee and are surrogate child to management. Experienced employees not valued.
Can I work as a college student?
Working here as a college student is ok. you don't make anything working part-time. If you are a full-time salesman, you cannot make enough to provide for yourself. If you work the register, its slow and boring and you are not compensated very well.

Being a Salesman can be somewhat difficult at times . Room for advancement is minimal within the company in my opinion, not to many people moving within the company. Slower in the winter months, busier in the spring/summer months. Wish there was more job compensation
