I use disc break cleaner. (Not the water based kind) Stick a tee in one end, spray some cleaner in, swish it around, pour it on the tape, slide the grip on. It is ready to go in very short order. disclaimer: I don't use the stuff in the house or a confined space. [attachment=2205043:001.JPG]

Ok, as a Chemist, I use soap and water with water based tape. I live in the heat of the NC Coast and never had a problem with the tape or drying times.... The less number of chemicals in the house the better... Brake Fluid,,,Lighter Fluid,,,, whoa......????

Well, nobody has mentioned it yet but regular unleaded gasoline works absolutely great. Excellent solvent and very, very fast drying time. Not for the smokers out there. Disclaimer: I didn't tell you the above.

Go to harbor Freight, home depot, menards etc and spend $50 on a small compressor. Usually comes with the hose and a few fittings. Then get a nozzle adapter ($3-4) and presto. No odour, messy solvents or expensive dual sided carpet tape. PLUS its waaaay more easy and customizable. I will never use the tape and solvent method again.
