Ultralight weights that produce good ball flights has been what I have read on here anyway.#N#I think what you really should look into is a slightly longer, lighter shaft with a ball that is designed for straighter, longer flight.

i heard some good things about the aerotech claymore shafts when i was asking about ultralite shafts to try and duplicate the one in my tourstage VIQ driver which was 48 grams..3.6 torque..mid-kick point and R flex---#N#...the claymore came closest to matching these specs on paper and at $80@ at golfsmith it wouldn't break the bank in case it didn't work out..#N#i tried their F4 flex advertised for 90-105 mph driver ss as mine was at 95....#N#it turned out a bit stiff for me so i ordered the F3 flex designed for--i think-- 85-95mph ss...after 2 rounds it seems to be a good fit now but will need a few more rounds just to be sure..#N#there is still the F2 flex in case i want to try a still softer shaft...#N#i was able to sell the F4 to a friend for almost what i paid so no big loss there..#N#...hope this helps...

My dad is in his mid 60's and his club head speed is around 80 to 85. He has tried different shafts over the years and has been playing a Fujikura tour platform for a while. Recently he has been shopping around for new shafts to play around with and decided on the UST Mamiya MP5 and he is KILLING it. He has picked up a TON of yards!!!

It depends. If a lighter and/or longer shaft will give you more swingspeed then many of the suggestions above are great. For an 85 mph swing with low ballflight I think it's tough to beat the XCon 5, and if you already have good height I like the HD5 or HD 4, set up half a flex softer than the Xcon.
