For me it would be my 4 iron. I actually kept it out of the bag for a little while but I put it back in and it's only used on special shots. It's almost a 3 iron because of being bent 1 degree strong and already being lower lofted than standard. It's good off the tee mainly and sometimes off the deck if I'm feeling confident.

My 3-wood has always been the most difficult club to hit. Since getting a new one it's helped a lot, but sometimes I wonder if I should just hit my 19 degree hybrid off of anything less than an absolutely perfect lie. I'd never take it out of the bag because off the tee it is a beast and deadly straight, and off of most fairways it's dang good.

Easy for me is 3 wood. I hook the heck out of it usually and off the deck is a guessing game.

3 wood I suppose but when I'm swinging well it's not like I stink with it and when I'm not swinging well I struggle with everything.
MattF
3 wood. Off the tee, it's fantastic. Straight, long (almost as long as my driver) but off the deck...what a POS. I have no idea why I can't hit it properly from the fairway, but I can't. I'm looking for a Ping G20 5 wood for fairway shots.

For me over the years it has been different clubs from different makes. I will give you one example. I carried an old Cleveland 60 for years untill I wore it out. I absolutely could not hit another 60 of any shape or brand so I went to a Vokey 58 and it was good untill I found out it was non conforming.

Pretty much any of the older blades are super hard to hit. High COG, thin sole with a sharp leading edge. No fun at all.

The Sand Wedge
The 3-Iron
- I’ll be honest, in my old set of clubs, which I used for many years, when I came to trade in my set for a new one, my 3-iron still had the price sticker on the bottom. Hitting that club, for me, was a real trial and it is the same for many high handicappers. Common faults include having the object ball too near the middle of your stance, the dreaded snap hook or slice, having the ball to far in fr…
The Driver
- One of the strangest things I’ve seen and heard at the range or on a golf course is when someone proclaims themselves to be a good driver. This is based on the evidence that they once hit their driver close to 300 yards. Yet, these people often singularly fail to recognise the 999 other times when they have hooked, sliced, topped, missed or duffed the ball so poorly, they have to put up …
The Lob Wedge
- Hands up if you thought the driver would be number one on this list? Surprised that there are two clubs more difficult to hit than it? Well don’t be as some of the very worst golf shots I have seen (and, I have to admit, hit myself) have come from the dreaded lob wedge. Ever since these clubs gained popularity and we’ve seen the genius of shots from the likes of Tiger Woods, Luke Donal…
The 1 Or 2-Iron
- Lee Trevino famously remarked that in a thunderstorm golfers should stand on the course with a 1-Iron pointing directly at the storm overhead because “even God can’t hit a one-iron”. If you have ever tried to play a golf shot with one of these clubs unsuccessfully, you’ll know why. Hybrids may now be gaining popularity with many golfers as they are...
