You are looking for the wrong Rule. There is no requirement for a shaft to have a grip on it. Therefore the max. diameter of a shaft would be the max. diameter of an area that you hold the club which is 1.75."

I created new putter grips that snap on and off a putter. I need to determine the butt end diameter 580, 600, 620 of each putter by manufacturer to be sure the new grips work on all clubs. Golfsmith only has the tip end diameters. Does any one know where I can find this information?
