Yeoman is intelligent about the way it generates/copies/writes your files in a synchronous manner. It uses an in-memory file system that allows intelligent diffing of files, so the user will be aware of conflicts and can decide whether to overwrite a file that already exists. Yeoman / ˈjoʊmən / was first documented in mid-14th-century England, referring to the middle ranks of servants in an English royal or noble household. Yeomanry was the name applied to groups of freeborn commoners engaged as household guards, or raised as an army during times of war.
