Fringe chipping my go to club is a 52 degree. It gives me the right balance of carry, and roll. I have a 56 and 60 I use from the greenside bunkers, and the rough depending on the slope of the green and where I want to land the ball. The 52 gets the majority of the fairway shots and the fringe.

I’ve put together this short video that shows you how to determine what club to use when you’re chipping around the greens. Remember, you need to take into account the grass you're hitting from and the type of grass you have to hit over.
How far are you from the flag?
The first thing you need to establish is how far your golf ball is from the flag. This dictates what club you are going to use and the type of shot you can play. If I’m close to the pin around say up to 4 metres and there’s not a lot of green to work with and I have a good lie, I'll go with a sand wedge (SW).
Pro-tip that works
Always try to get the ball onto the green as quickly as possible and running towards the hole. Whether you’re using a sand wedge (SW) or a 6 iron it doesn’t matter.
Best clubs from 4 to 7 metres
If I’m a little bit further away from the flag I’ll usually use a pitching wedge (PW). This ensures the ball comes out a little bit lower with a little bit more run.
