Hi all, just wondering if any one else uses their R as a work car and what milage you guys are on?

Bazandbeanz

I have a 2016 with just shy of 56k and looking at it you would think it's done 5.6k!

Gavras

I personally believe with cars, it's not the actual mileage figure but type of driving that hits that mileage.

This is great to see. I've just bought a 2015 before Christmas with 62k on it now, I plan on keeping it for a long time. I'm in Ireland so they are a lot more expensive to buy here. €50k+ for a 2019 post wltp model. I think these will so 200k+ easily once serviced and maintained correctly. True, it was imported from West Sussex and had one mature owner from new before me. Full VW history, 5 stamps from one dealership and I have one year warranty.

I'm around 7-8 months into a lease on my '14 R and done roughly 15k miles in it so far (over my annual limit by now of course!), and i was wondering what sort of other mileage people have done/got to in their R's and how 'tight' they still feel?

I would wait until you need to make a decision. Your circumstances may have changed. I never want to own a car. I recycle every 1-2 years with a new car. Who wants to own a 6-7 year old car with 126k miles on it???

simpleR

Mine had done 32k when it went back (i wonder who has it now) and was starting to feel very tired when compared to the new one. I personally don't fancy owning one past 60k or about 4 years based on my mileage hence why I took 4 years warranty and will be getting rid before then.

Jays6R

Not that I would condone such behaviour but you could always rewind the clocks...

Cogito

My MK6 R logged 35K miles in three years and was running strong when I traded it for the MK7 R. Dealer gave me top US book value - I look after my cars. Could have tried to sell it privately for more, but who has the time and patience? I wanted to be driving the MK7's MQB chassis and am not disappointed.

Installing the parts to the Golf R

The installation was completed over two days, but Revo suggest it can be done in a day-and-a-half. The time consuming parts are swapping out the turbo and the intercooler.

Direct Replacement Upgrades

As with the turbo, the Revo intercooler and Pipe Upgrade Kit has been designed to directly replace the restrictive and lower budget OEM items. Again, most of this will be hidden, but it does its job feeding the 2.0 TSI engine with cooler air. Essential with a big power forced induction unit like this.

Revo IS38ETR Turbo vs standard IS38 Turbo

The Revo IS38ETR offers significant performance gains over a stock IS38. It comes with a new OEM compressor and turbine housings, so it’s a straight swap with no modifications needed. Every weak point of the stock IS38 has been enhanced. The compressor and turbine housings have been CNC re-profiled to match the larger wheels and stronger shaft.

The IS38ETR V2 is now here

The IS38 ETR Turbo has now been enhanced further with our latest V2 revision. See more information here.

Revo ECU Performance Software

Revo’s goal with their ECU Software was to enable the IS38ETR to be fitted without any loss of reliability or drivability. It had to work on a stock engine without the need for forged internals. To achieve this, they spent two years testing the set-up ensuring the kit carried out thousands of miles worldwide.

Maintaining the Character of the Golf R

The Revo IS38ETR package not only transforms the Golf R into an extremely fast car, but it does so without compromising drivability. It’s one thing to create a quick car, but quite another to do so while maintaining its original character.

Hi All just bought an R 👌 and got to say it’s a beast as standard question is I’ve just filled up and been for a drive and what I thought was the fuel gauge looks like a speedometer as the needle went from full to just over half in a 100 miles 😳 if I go for a stage one Revo does it get worst? As I’ll need a fuel tanker following me round at this rate, I just want to know does it hammer the fuel even more once remapped!........

Something wrong there - I get mid 30s on mine. 37 and more if I try to drive economically. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Oh dear another fuel consumption thread... I get this, I get that, look how low I can get or look how high I can get (sigh) I just fill it up when it gets low, unwound guess I am getting somewhere between 15 and 30 mpg on average which is exactly what I expected Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

GaryP

A car like an R is never going to give good returns, especially when pushing on. Although 39/40mpg is possible when pootling along on a motorway run. When I first got mine I was quite shocked by heavy consumption, then tried getting as much MPG as I could, until I realised I was totally missing the point with the car.

Max Q

Has anyone else noticed an increase in fuel consumption since winter has started? I've noticed I'm getting about 10% worse fuel consumption in comparison to what I was seeing during the summer on the same daily commute in the usual traffic. I'd suppose this is to be expected, just surprised it's as high as 10% poorer mpg.

Rfol G

Cheers all I am going to try a few tests let you all know what the outcome is. I did not buy it for a fuel saving tree hugging moment I Just wanted to see if anyone else was getting the same values .
