I hit the ball in 3" rough just deep enough to where I could not see the ball unless I was looking directly down on the ball. The ball was playable both before and after stepping on the ball. It was not OOB, nor was there any obstruction.

Sorry for the mix up on my part. For whatever reason, I had it in my mind that he was looking for the ball in deeper than normal rough, like tall heather or something abnormal. Pays to read thoroughly. Again, my mistake.

Ok I reread the firt post and see you didn't play the wrong ball. If I was pretty sure the other guy played my ball I'd have maked where his ball was and then took it with me and went up them. You have to find a way to be tactful as the opposing party may take offense to you saying they played your ball.
