This thread is to help with explanation of a lot of the suspension terms regarding our cars. I would like those with any info to please post and add to hear. A lot of people need to know that modifying a car is not just by adding a Stage 2+ kit under the engine bay and think they have improved the car!

Porra this is brilliant. Nice one! Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Quick question from the suspension guru's from a bit of a novice modder.

fraz

Who would supply the TT-RS uprights for the Golf R 6? - Parts department at Audi? - A tuning garage?- If I mod my R it'll be the first so there is a fair amount of jargon to understand so go ez-!

mdian

I know this subject has been done to death, but reading through, I'm still a little unclear! At the moment, if I bought outright, I'd include, but if I lease, I may have to remove; however, I want the 19" wheels (prefer the look and believe they are lighter), so not sure if this will produce quite an uncomfortable ride?

harryhackenbacker

I have done 1000 miles with DCC on 19's in sport mode , Ride firm and great feeling handling , However some roads now

mdian

Thanks, so the R will still get stages of comfort selectable, but just not as effective as DCC. To be honest, the car will be used as an all rounder but I've always liked a slightly firmer ride to give more confidence of where the limits are, not that they plan on going to the extreme.

AgentFruit

I'm not sure if people have or haven't driven a 6R with ACC and what their opinions of it are, but I drove one with and one without. The one with was an interesting car with it turned off and an exciting car with it turned on. The car without was therefore unappealing as I was longing to firm up its handling.

No more Diesel

I went for it as I cannot stand choppy rides at high M-way speeds, having experiences variable dampers in other cars, the comfort setting is perfect for M-way and poorly surfaced A/B roads. When you want to feel more connected a flick of the switch and everything firms up with more damping control.

AgentFruit

"First the livability question: Yes, absolutely. Bearing in mind the significant caveat that I was on German roads, I loved the way the car rode - a magic carpet ride in "normal" mode. The longer wheel base, Stiffer structure with MQB and the advanced suspension choices (assuming you get DCC) all pay dividends here.

Danno

Cant for the life of me remember what made this one stand out in my memory....hmmmm
