We have both a match play and a stroke play club championship. The match play is considered the bigger deal. It is flighted Championship, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Senior, Super Senior. The 16 lowest handicappers who sign up for the Championship Flight are in and seeded by handicap.

We have season long individual and double match play championships, but those aren't considered the club champion. Our club championship is a two day event in August. Anyone can opt in to the championship flight, otherwise you are flighted based on handicap. Then it's just a straight up 2 day stroke play event.

We Have a spring 4 ball championship,any teams that qualify, [ 32 lowest scores from a qualifying round ] Senior four ball, over 55, [ 32 lowest scores bla bla bla, ] stroke play 5 divisions , 3 rounds except championship flight which is 4 rounds over 2 weekends. Other individual match play with handicaps and another match play no handicaps.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this subject. I am teaching professional at a retail store. I am a member at my local course and was just informed via email. That I would not be allowed to play in the Member Club Championship do to the fact that I'm a golf professional and not an amateur.

my opinion is that pros shouldn't play in the club championships, same as the interclubs. Sorry dude just my opinion

Thank you for your replies. As for "do pros play in club championships"? Yes if there members of the club. And there not running it. I.E Phil Mickelson joking hes never won his club championship there in Arizona, and explaining the depth of his club and the players that belong to it.

Yes, I did take up a USGA Ghin Handicap as well. Also for playing in club events. Im a +1.4 now and I do not complain about giving the golf course a shot. I also looked to the committee, But there is none. So I'm S.O.L there. But again the other players are siding with me at the club that I should be allowed to play to identify the best player.

Yes there are different flights. The championship Flight is stroke play Qualifying from tips (gross). Then match play among top 8 qualifiers over the span of 3 weekends. There is also 2 net flights as well. Yes I paid my membership due and $30 for a USGA Ghin at the start of the year. Thank you for your opinions.
