Why does Jerry do heroic acts?
Many of Jerry's heroic acts are often in response to a dilemma or catastrophic problem that he caused. This is the case when he and Rick visit an intergalactic resort on another planet. The resort is protected by an immortality shield that prevents guests from dying. Even from horrific injuries like decapitation. When enemies of Rick convince Jerry to help them assassinate his father-in-law at a specific point on the Whirly Dirly ride not protected by the shield, Jerry is more than willing.
What is Jerry's parenting style?
Jerry's attempts at parenting are fairly pointless, considering his children have proven themselves to be capable of taking care of themselves in extreme situations without his help. After taking it on himself to teach Rick's half-human, half-planet children the fundamentals of camping (s'mores being the pinnacle of roughing it), Jerry becomes their version of Moses.
Why did Jerry discover Plutonian corporations are using him as a distraction?
He soon discovers Plutonian corporations are using him as a distraction to keep the population from learning they're destroying the planet with aggressive mining techniques. Jerry eventually does the right thing and reveals the secret to his adoring fans, giving the Plutonians a chance to save their world.

Morty quickly convinces Rick to open a portal to leave; Rick does so, then shoots through it and kills Jellybean.
