Maintenance interval on the DSG is 40k miles and Haldex is 3 years for the first change and every 2 years after that. It's easy enough to do them at the same time. May do UOA on both fluids for kicks as well as virgin.

My pump was blocked.#N#If you are adamant at taking it to VW, ask them if they will clean the filter ON THE PUMP, don’t just say filter as they will say “there is no filter sir”#N#Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just had my 30k service at the local dealership, but didn't initially include the Haldex service as wanted to find out what was involved, i.e do they just change the oil, or do more.

They will just chainge the oil, however us enthusiasts know that doesnt do enough to maintain the haldex system. You need to remove the pump & clean the haldex filter gauze.

When I asked my dealer about a Haldex service they told me they would change the oil and clean the filter, didn't take any prompting. They actually told me that the build up of gunk there can cause serious problems ( I already knew from here ) this was a JCB dealer. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

just a question about the haldex oil, at what mileage should it be changed and also what about the filter, should i get that done at the same time, has anyone had this done, if so how much did it cost and is it a diy job or leave it to the professionals. cheers

dazr32

hotdog

I had the oil and filter done at 20k and it cost me about £45 all in. Didn't think that was bad really.

Guys I've just bought an 04 R32 & it's on 24k miles. Can you tell me what the Haldex is & why it needs to be done? From the service history I can't see if the Haldex change has been done at 20k miles.

Hi, the haldex is the 4wd controller which determines how the power is distributed between the front and rear wheels. It operates utilising hydraulics and needs its oil changed every 20k to keep it working efficently
