I am having my Golf R detailed this Saturday and the wheels are coming off for coating. I assume if using a trolley jack you would use the standard lifting points as detailed in the manual for the supplied vehicle jack. (Using rubber pads between trolley jack cup and lifting point)

I used the sill jacking point with mine and put some folded up cardboard in the cup and lifted it without a problem. no damage to the sill. i am soon to purchase a slotted hockey puck style pad to place in the cup but just trying to get one that fits as the cup is fairly large.

An old thread but, can anyone recommend any adapters for a trolley jack? My jack has circular pad but clearly the jack points on the golf are pinch welds.

It turns out these are designed for cars built in Mexico, I bought this set (from Awesome in the UK) but found it did not fit German built cars properly at the rear as they differ from the Mexican built cars in the depth of the rear pressing - Awesome refunded me.

How is the puck attached to the jack? Is it bolted or anything or does it just sat freely?
