Not a Great Start

Granted, I am not the target market for the GX-7, but I wanted to try out the club to see what kind of results I got. I’ve tested a ton of equipment over the last several years and learned a lot about clubs from some of the best in the industry. I can tell you that many of the claims they make are very suspicious (before even trying the club).

Is the GX7 a cavity backed driver?

The club head is cavity backed and this is why you will get plenty of room on the club head to hit the sweet spot every time you are playing. GX7 is shorter than other drivers in its class. For this reason, you will be able to swing it more like an iron and still you will not be hitting the toe.

What Is The GX-7?

The basic concept behind this driver is that it’s supposed to eliminate a few bad shots per round, is just as long as your driver, is equally as accurate as your fairway wood, and will produce less spin overall.

Accuracy

The main reason someone would get a club like this is to improve their accuracy off the tee. Most “average” players struggle with the driver and tend to hook or slice it big time. If they can hit the fairway more often and still have the distance then they should be able to lower scores.

Distance

Even though distance shouldn’t be the main thing a mid to high handicap player should be looking for, it’s still something you should expect from your driver. They said it’ll go the same distance as your driver but I didn’t find that to be the case.

The Verdict

Overall, if you’re a higher handicap player or someone who doesn’t have the fastest swing speeds, you might want to give the GX-7 a try. It’s not something I’d add to my bag but I don’t think I’m the target market for something like this. It looks like it’s more for senior or female golfers.

Did I see MGS featured on one of the commercials? Maybe it was the Teeless driver or something but it surprised me a little bit. It came off like they were endorsing it and I've never seen a test posted on the site.

NiftyNiblick

Looking at this from another angle. If those gimmick clubs really did work the way the ads said they did, wouldn't you think the pros or serious golfers would be using them? I'll just leave it at that.

cnosil

First, this is my opinion and not necessarily the opinion if MGS. I don’t work for them but can provide some insight into MGS appearing in the t-less commercials. My guess is the company that makes the T less driver wanted to get some actual data on how their club performed.

Jmikecpa

Heck, Mike Golic loves his so that is good enough for me :) Then again I got drunk and bought a Hammer driver of eBay. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

BIG STU

We got pared with a guy sometime back who had one. he was probably in his mid 30s pretty decent player. He had one in his bag said a friend of his bought it and wanted him to try it. He had hit it on the range a couple of times and liked it ok for what he wanted it for. One short par 4 is a layup hole because of a creek.

DrMJG

When I returned to golf after 2+ decades away and having recovered from foot surgery that left me with <10 toes and iffy balance, I was granted a GX-7 as a gift. My swing speed and ball speed were low at that time and I had only played a true persimmon driver before that time.

njaare

I always like to contact the firm that advertises the golf clubs and in the case of the teeless golf club - longer than your driver- hit it like a 3 wood, there email address they provide is bogus. Tells me a lot about their company.
