CLUBHOUSE, INCLUDING OUTDOOR PATIO: 1 Attire following the dress code for the Golf Course is appropriate for the Clubhouse (excluding Formal Dining Room & Event Space) 2 Business casual attire is required in the Formal Dining Room and Event Space and is defined as slacks, coat, and collared shirt for gentleman. 3 Camp shirts (i.e. Tommy Bahama-style shirts) are allowed. Camp shirts are loose, straight-cut shirts/blouses with a simple placket front opening. It usually has a straight hemmed bottom and is not meant to be tucked into pants. 4 For women, sundresses are appropriate. Given the wide range of variability in today’s style, it is the expectation that DGC women and female guests will use discretion in the selection of attire, as well as the utilization of sweaters/wraps/shawls, as necessary. 5 As pertains to women, dresses, blouses, and tops without collar and/or sleeves may be worn. However, as with sundresses, they should be in the spirit and tradition of the club. 6 Sandals (open type of footwear that leaves most of the upper part of the foot, particularly the toes, exposed) must be in the spirit of the club. They are not allowed on the golf course.

How long should a foursome play?

Pace of play is an important aspect of enjoying your round of golf. The initial foursome off in the morning should play in 4 hours or less on both the North and South courses. All succeeding foursomes are expected to stay in contact with the foursome ahead of them.

Can jeans be ripped?

Denim (defined as a coarse, twilled sturdy cotton cloth used for jeans) may be of any color – BUT CANNOT BE RIPPED OR TORN (must be tasteful and appropriate for a club environment). Denim shorts or skirts must meet all other aspects of the Dress Code (they cannot be cargo shorts, microskirts, etc.).

Is denim allowed in golf?

Denim would be allowed every day the Club is opened. No denim is allowed on any aspect of the golf facilities (driving range, putting and practice areas, golf courses).

Cargo is defined as loose fitting pants or shorts that feature large, generous pockets along the side of the leg that have the capability to hold bulky gear and small items . For gentleman, shirts must be tucked in at all times. Mock or Blade collars are not permitted.

The Detroit Golf Club was founded in 1899 by William R. Farrandand several of his friends. Originally the Club was limited to 100 members. They rented a 45-acre (180,000 m ) plot of farmland at 6 Mile and Woodward, and a 6-hole course layout was created. In 1900 the course added 3 holes, making it a 9-hole course. Location

The Club, located on the North side of Detroit, near such landmarks as Palmer Park and the University of Detroit Mercy, is separated from the former Palmer Park Golf Course by Pontchartrain Blvd. on the East, and Fairway Drive on the West. It shares a small border with 7 Mile on the North, and a large border with McNichols (6 Mile) on the South.
