The National Golf Foundation honored Sand Creek Station with a Customer Loyalty Award in January 2007. GOLF Magazine recognized Sand Creek Station as a Top Ten New Course You Can Play in December 2006. Industry magazine Golf Inc. named Sand Creek Station as a finalist for top new public course in the country in November 2006.

What is the bridge that spans Sand Creek?

A wooden cart bridge spans Sand Creek, and a concrete underpass allows carts to travel under the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks. A biking/walking path runs along the tracks from the course to Southwest 14th Street.

This course is definitely a must play when you are in the Wichita area. It is located in Newton, Kansas built around train tracks and Sand Creek, hence the name Sand Creek Station. The course is a tough track most of the time with the wind and has a hole that is named "The Beast" (Hole 10).

Chris Tuohey was an active player in high school and college. His love for the game turned into a career that started in 1994 at Bayou Oaks golf course, a 72-hole municipality located in the heart of New Orleans.

James Houchen

A 2000 graduate of Kansas State University, James began working for KemperSports as assistant superintendent during the grow in at Shoal Creek in Kansas City, MO. In August 2005, he was promoted to superintendent and took on the task of growing in Sand Creek Station in Newton, KS

Laurie Kimerer

Laurie joined our staff in 2013 as Controller after moving back to her home state of Kansas. She enjoys the beauty of the Sand Creek Station Golf Course and the wide variety of people who come daily to take advantage of the unique and challenging course. She doesn't play golf, but we enjoy a challenge so we'll get her out on the course soon!

Dustin Housh

Dustin joined the staff at Sand Creek Station in 2009 and has continued to work at our facility wearing many hats. Most recently, he accepted the position of Tournament Director and handles our many corporate and internal events. Dustin grew up in Memphis, TN before moving to Newton, KS prior to attending High School.
