What channel is the USGA tournament on?
Beginning with the 2020 tournament, NBCUniversal holds domestic television rights (with coverage on NBC and Golf Channel ), having taken over the remainder of the 12-year deal with the USGA signed by Fox Sports in 2013 that gave it exclusive rights to USGA championships from 2015 through 2026. With the postponed 2020 U.S. Open Championship presenting a significant scheduling challenge due to its other fall sports commitments, Fox had held discussions with the USGA over broadcasting the tournament on their cable network FS1 or partnering with NBC. Ultimately, the issues led the network to transfer the final seven years of its contract entirely.

No. But the USGA definitely has favorite golf courses it likes to visit for the U.S. Open. You'll be able to easily pick them out in the list below. But unlike with the R&A and the Open Championship, there are no set rules, no established formula used by the USGA.
The Country Club
The Country Club will host its fourth U.S. Open and its 17th USGA championship, June 16-19. The three previous Opens at Brookline went to a playoff. In 1913, one of golf’s most important moments occurred when amateur Francis Ouimet, just 20 years old, took down British stalwarts Harry Vardon and Ted Ray.
The Los Angeles Country Club
In 2023, the U.S. Open will return to the West Coast at the North Course at the Los Angeles Country Club, June 15-18. The 2017 Walker Cup Match actually set the stage for the course hosting its first-ever U.S. Open. The club has previously hosted the 1930 U.S. Women’s Amateur and 1954 U.S. Junior Amateur.
Pinehurst No. 2
The No. 2 course will host June 13-16. Donald Ross built the course in 1907. It’ll be the fourth time the U.S. Open will be played there. Pinehurst will recently announced as an “anchor” host site by the USGA and has already been scheduled to hold four U.S. Opens in addition to 2024 through 2047: 2029, 2035, 2041 and 2047.
Oakmont Country Club
Oakmont will host the 2025 U.S. Open, June 12-15. The 125th U.S. Open will also be the 10th one at Oakmont, where Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Johnny Miller and most recently Dustin Johnson in 2016 are listed among the champions. Tommy Armour won the first U.S. Open at Oakmont in 1927.
Shinnecock Hills Golf Club
Shinnecock will host the U.S. Open June 18-21, 2026, for the sixth time. James Foulis won the first one at Shinnecock in 1896. Other winners include Raymond Floyed (1986), Corey Pavin (1995), Retief Goosen (2004) and Brooks Koepka (2018). The USGA had already awarded the 2026 U.S. Open before the 2018 edition.
Pebble Beach Golf Links
Pebble Beach will host its seventh U.S. Open June 17-20, 2027. Jack Nicklaus won the first one there in 1972. Tom Watson won a memorable U.S. Open in 1982. Tiger Woods routed the field in 2000.
Merion Golf Club
Merion was host when Justin Rose won the 2013 U.S. Open. The national championship will return again in 2030 and then 20 years after that in 2050. Merion was also awarded two U.S. Women’s Opens (2034, 2046) as well as the 2022 Curtis Cup and the 2026 U.S. Amateur.
