History
The 19th-century house the "Wentworths" (now the club house for the club) was the home for the brother-in-law of the Duke of Wellington. It was purchased in 1850 by exiled Spanish Carlist general the Duke of Maestrazgo and his heiress wife.
Today
Wentworth Club is best known for its associations with professional golf. It has three eighteen-hole courses: the famous Harry Colt -designed West Course from 1926, the earlier yet lesser-played East Course which was also designed by Colt in 1924, the recent Edinburgh Course designed by John Jacobs, and a nine-hole par-3 executive course.
When did the South Course open?
1,500 tons of wood was cleared in record time by a team of New Zealand lumberjacks and, in 1990 , after a huge effort, the South course opened for play. The course was later renamed the Edinburgh in honour of the Duke who conducted the opening ceremony.
What is the difference between 12 and 13?
Twelve is a mid-length par 3 playing from an elevated tee to a thin, raised green surrounded by four bunkers. I felt this to be a nice hole. Thirteen is a mid-length par 4 as another sharp dogleg left with bunkers at the corner on the right and trees pinching in on the left. The green is in a lovely setting.

How to get there
Leave the M25 motorway at exit 13. At roundabout follow the A30 direction Egham (parallel to M25). At next roundabout follow the A30 direction Basingstoke. After 3.3 miles turn left into the Wentworth Club (look out for the castle ramparts !).
