Do any pro golfers use single length irons?

DeChambeau is currently the only Tour player who uses single-length irons, but Norman said he thinks that could change in the future.

Are one length irons any good?

Single-length iron sets could be a good option for beginners and high handicappers. This group would only have to use one iron setup, which could accelerate learning. And they'd likely struggle less with longer-than-standard scoring clubs than with standard-length long irons.

What length should single length irons be?

around 37-38 inchesIn general, all brands that offer single-length irons are around 37-38 inches (which is a normal 7-8 iron length). Most manufacturers allow you to add or remove up to 1-2 inches as well. In essence, you're basically playing with a bag of 7 irons with different lofts on each club.

How much distance do you lose with single length irons?

Luckily swinging with a one-length iron set should not make you lose distance. You may see a few yards difference with your long irons, but your short irons will likely end up going a few yards further. Sometimes the longer length on the short irons gives them a bit more distance, but it won't be significant.

What length are DeChambeau's irons?

37.5-inchThat's right. DeChambeau plays all of his irons -- all of which have unique names -- with the same 37.5-inch shaft and has been doing it since 2011, when he made the switch -- from 3-iron to 60-degree wedge -- with coach Mike Schy.

Do one-length irons go as far?

The lower-numbered irons in a same-length set tend to fly a little lower than traditional irons. Not getting enough height on shots is already a problem for most recreational golfers. There might be a sacrifice in distance with the lower-numbered irons.

Did Bobby Jones use single-length irons?

As mentioned above, legendary golfer Bobby Jones was arguably the most influential figure to play using single-length irons. Bobby Jones famously won two major championships in 1930 with single-length irons, the US Open and the Open Championship.

What happens if irons are too short?

What Happens When Golf Clubs Are Too Short? For most golfers, having clubs that are too short will be better than if they're too long, but can still result in inconsistent shots. Clubs that are too short will make you stand bent over, which can cause back pain. You'll also have the tendency to push the ball a lot.

Do shorter golfers need shorter clubs?

Shorter golfers are often better served with shorter clubs, while the lie angle (how the club sits on the ground) may also need tweaking. If your clubs are too long and/or upright, you'll be forced to adjust away from a swing that's natural for you.

Should you shorten your irons?

Additionally, shorter length golf clubs can provide more control to the golfer, essentially making the golf club more forgiving. While longer clubs can help increase speed and launch angle, shorter clubs can be easier to hit solid due to the reduction in swing arc.

Feedback

Has anyone tried these as a cheap entry into SL? I’m intrigued, but can find almost no feedback across several forums.

I have not, but Orlimar WAS a big name in equipment, at 1 time. I think I'm gonna try Giga Golf's, if I try any. Affordable and I've had good luck in the past with their equipment.

The Orlimars may very well be fine, but I think you can still find new or near new cobra f7 OL sets for near the same price and there is plenty of info out there about those

Feedback

My league playing partner bought the Orlimar Interceptor's last year. He was leaning towards the Cobra single lengths but didn't want to spend the money in case they didn't work out. He picked up the Orlimar's for $225. Anyways..... after 2-3 rounds he was convinced he made the right choice. They are a very solid set that has consistent gaps.
