Hi All just bought an R 👌 and got to say it’s a beast as standard question is I’ve just filled up and been for a drive and what I thought was the fuel gauge looks like a speedometer as the needle went from full to just over half in a 100 miles 😳 if I go for a stage one Revo does it get worst? As I’ll need a fuel tanker following me round at this rate, I just want to know does it hammer the fuel even more once remapped!........

A car like an R is never going to give good returns, especially when pushing on. Although 39/40mpg is possible when pootling along on a motorway run. When I first got mine I was quite shocked by heavy consumption, then tried getting as much MPG as I could, until I realised I was totally missing the point with the car.

Max Q

Has anyone else noticed an increase in fuel consumption since winter has started? I've noticed I'm getting about 10% worse fuel consumption in comparison to what I was seeing during the summer on the same daily commute in the usual traffic. I'd suppose this is to be expected, just surprised it's as high as 10% poorer mpg.

Cheers all I am going to try a few tests let you all know what the outcome is. I did not buy it for a fuel saving tree hugging moment I Just wanted to see if anyone else was getting the same values .

Probably one of those questions that's easy if you know the answer but should I use standard petrol in the Golf R or one of the premium fuels like BP Ultimate? Picking the car up from the dealers on Monday morning and will doubtless have to put fuel in to get home! Its a 2016 model.

Eugene

Ta for that, currently run BP Ultimate in my car anyway but wasn't sure what the general opinion was. 👍

I've always filled my cars with the cheapest stuff I could find, without issue. Oh and I tend to keep them for a few years too.
