The RCD 510 DAB can be had quite cheaply for around £200. Lots of them get sold as people upgrade to the Nav units, so it depends which you'd rather have. I found the RNS 310 (Nav but no DAB) to suit the Mk5 Golf well and it can be picked up for about the same price.

Yeah app connect is a must but VW dealership want £265 to unlock which is a joke... not sure why it takes 3 hours for them to do though.

I have seen aftermarket devices that will add appconnect but they are even more expensive and would only make sense if you had an mib1 that couldn't have appconnect activated.
