Collin Morikawa

Fresh off his Open Championship victory, Morikawa is now the third-ranked player in the world. He’s already won both the PGA Championship and the Open Championship on his first try — could a gold medal be next?

Justin Thomas

Currently ranked No. 4 in the world, Thomas has experience on his side. Though he’s never competed in the Olympics, four of Thomas’ 14 PGA Tour victories have been in Asia: the 2016 and 2017 CIMB Classic in Malaysia, and the 2018 and 2020 CJ Cup at Nine Bridges in South Korea.

Xander Schauffele

World No. 5 Xander Schauffele has four PGA Tour wins on his resume, and he has finished runner-up three times this season. He may also have an edge when it comes to familiarity with the country: Schauffele’s mother was raised in Japan, and Schauffele says he has travelled to Japan more than a handful of times.

Patrick Reed

The 2018 Masters champ replaces Bryson DeChambeau on the team after DeChambeau’s positive Covid-19. Reed also played in the 2016 Games and tied for 11th.

Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa is currently excelling in golf having managed two Major wins at just 24-years-old – the 2020 PGA Championship, and the 2021 Open Championship, winning both on his debut.

Justin Thomas

Justin Thomas is an incredibly successful player who is a 14-time PGA Tour winner – his most notable win the 2017 PGA Championship.

Xander Schauffele

Schauffele is largely a consistent golfer that has managed four PGA Tour victories in his career.

Bryson DeChambeau

Renowned for his incredibly long drives, DeChambeau is also an emotional golfer who has impressed in recent years.

Nelly Korda

22-year-old Nelly Korda is perhaps the most promising player in the United States Olympic team, and she could still play in many more Games should she wish to in the future.

Danielle Kang

Kang is perhaps one of the more experienced members of the US Olympic team, despite only being 28-years-old.

Lexi Thompson

Thompson has been playing professional golf for over a decade now, and is still only 26-years-old, after she turned professional when just 15.

Who is the No. 2 golfer in the world?

The participants were determined by the Olympic Golf Ranking, which is based off the world ranking. Dustin Johnson, the world’s No. 2 player, announced earlier this year that he would not play in Tokyo, citing a heavy travel schedule, in part. The roster was finalized once the players accepted the invitation.

NELLY KORDA

Nelly Korda has been downright dominant in 2021 on the LPGA Tour. In 12 starts she has made 11 cuts, recorded six top-three finishes and won three times, including twice in her last three starts. She became a major champion and ascended to World No. 1 via victory at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Now she’s the 7-1 frontrunner to win the gold.

DANIELLE KANG

Kang has been the picture of consistency this season. Like Korda, Kang has missed just one cut. In 13 starts she has four top-five finishes and seven top-10s. And she’s made it clear just how excited she is to be on Team USA.

LEXI THOMPSON

While Thompson hasn’t had the best season of her career, she has maintained a high standard of play all of 2021; she has made every cut in 13 starts and notched three top-three finishes, most notably at the U.S. Women’s Open, where she held a five-shot lead before ultimately finishing third.

JESSICA KORDA

Nelly’s older sister Jessica won her first start of the season, the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions, and added a solo second in Los Angeles and a third-place finish in Williamsburg. Like Thompson, she hasn’t missed a cut this season — and she spoke to teammate and fellow south Florida resident Justin Thomas about what to expect this week:

Collin Morikawa

It’s hard to imagine a golfer you’d want representing your country right now more than Collin Morikawa. The 24-year-old just won his second major championship in eight tries at the Open Championship at Royal St. George’s, and he showed incredible poise beyond his years down the stretch to close it out.

Xander Schauffele
