About Shanty Creek
The 5,000 acres of Shanty Creek Resorts are spread among three villages - Cedar River, Schuss and Summit, each with at least one golf course, restaurant and accommodations galore. The Summit is arguably home base with the Lakeview Lodge housing the Lakeview Restaurant, the spa and the Legend and Summit golf courses.

About the course
Shanty Creek Resort is home to four 18-hole courses. At the resort centre you will find the LEGEND course (par-72, 6764 yds from back tees, designer Arnold Palmer, opened 1999) and the SUMMIT course (par-72, 6260 yds, William Diddel, 1965). 3 mi E of the main resort centre is the CEDAR RIVER course (par-72, 6989 yds, Tom Weiskopf, 1999).

Did you know?
Shanty Creek Resorts, including the Schuss Mountain and Summit Mountain ski, recreational and lodging areas, has its origins in resorts founded by Roy Deskin and Daniel Iannotti. Roy Deskin, the son of a coal miner, worked his way through Detroit’s steel factories to become a magnate in the industry.
When did Shanty Creek open?
The Legend, designed by Arnold Palmer, opened in 1986 and really put Shanty Creek on the map. For years, the 6,764-yard design ranked as one of the nation's top 100 public courses.
When was Schuss Mountain Golf Course built?
The 6,922-yard Schuss Mountain golf course opened as two separate nines - the first completed in 1972 with the second half in 1977. Architects Warner Bowen and Bill Newcomb crafted a course filled with doglegs left - seven to be exact - to hamper any slicer's game.
Is Shanty Creek in financial trouble?
